I still use the bowline though.
I've seen this as well, but I stopped doing it after I realized that it encourages rope movement (which results in wear) over the tie-in point at the harness.

I don't need to be doing anything that would encourage my harness to wear prematurely.

Am I seeing things, or is the rope he's tied into NOT the same line that's going into the Grigri?
