Could Arab American families be rounded up?
These "prisoners" to which you refer were captured on the battlefield. In wars past, they have been held until the end of hostilities, without charges. I'm not sure that there is a compelling reason to change that now. Unfettered/unrestricted phone tapping is not happening, that's just another myth of the left.
Not to you or me, but there is a reason why telecommunications companies demanded immunity from prosecution. What they are doing is illegal, or at least it was, and they know it.L Day wrote: Unfettered/unrestricted phone tapping is not happening, that's just another myth of the left.
In terms of Gitmo, not all of those held are coming from Iraq or Afganistan.

"but hasn't our nation rounded up groups of people we don't like multiple times? various indian tribes, JAPANESE, "suspected terrorists." (i'm not a history buff or i'm sure i could add a bunch more to the list)."
The incident your thinking of were the Japanese internment camps of WWII. Pretty ironic huh? Millions of soldiers were dying to protect the world from Nazis atrocities and yet there we were committing some of our own. Not that the agony of Israel can even be compared to Japanese suffering, but you cannot deny there were certain similarities.
The worst part about it is this could definitely happen again. Korematsu v U.S- possibly the worst Supreme Court decision ever, held that "the need to protect against espionage outweighed the rights of Japanese AMERICANS."Meaning that when it comes to National Security your civil rights count for exactly nothing. And in case you were wondering that decision has yet to be overturned.
So yes Arab families are at risk of being rounded up and hauled away should the right circumstances present themselves. All Bush and his cronies need to do is cry National Security and he might actually have a legal leg to stand on.

"All the thing I like to do are either immoral, illegal or fattening"
You haven't heard? That experiment has already been tried. One of the big networks, ABC I think, went trolling at a NASCAR race with some Arab looking persons in traditional dress and hidden cameras. The "journalists" must have been rubbing their hands with glee at the clever trap they'd layed for the white, biggoted, southern, drunken rednecks. What a beautiful setup, what great footage this would produce for the nightly "news". Guess what happened, exactly nothing. Turned out the only overtly prejudiced attendees at the festivities were the network idiots.caribe wrote:Larry: do the Arab-like-me thing. Disguise yourself for a while and let us know what kind of backlash you get from your own neighbors. People are being detained without access to lawyers right now by this rotten administration. These fuckers are torturing people.
Correction. It was NBC. As one wag noted, if they really wanted some action, they should have dressed up in bedsheets and white pointy hats and marched around the infield. I bet it wouldn't have been long before they got their asses kicked.

Don't you think things are much different than they were 10-20 years ago?
