Photography?

Post by poser »

There are lots of photos on this site of climbers...well, climbing...a quick search of flicker shows a lot of Red River Gorge photos:

http://flickr.com/search/?q=red+river+gorge

So, what kinds of photos--besides climbing--do you take?
What kinds of photo gear do you use?

Post a few of your images to this thread?

Here are a few I've taken. If you only see a red "x", right click it and follow the bouncing ball. *grin* Or refresh. The site they're posted to seems ok with hotlinking, so maybe they won't disappear.

If you look closely, you can see me:

...and we've all had one of these guys climbing next to us, and laughing at us:

...the beautiful places:

Enough of my junk. I've shown you mine, now show me yours!

P.S.: Fickr's two-or-three-clicks-to-see-a-big-picture interface irritates me! And that silly spaceball image thing.

Nice! :D
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

Nice! You should check out the non-climbing photo thread, as there is a lot of cool stuff people have posted, and it would be great to see more of your work on an on going basis.

Unfortunately, the size and compression for polite web posting cuts out some of the detail. I wrote an article about macrophotography a couple of years ago:

http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/68725

Since that article, I've switched to this camera, with a longer zoom, which also helps with macro:

I don't use a Digital SUV, because--like a lot of gorge climbers--I already carry 8 pounds of water, a ton of sport and trad gear (ropes are heavy!), food, first aid junk (ok, I really am a jerry...), sometimes, even a laptop (...I'm much worse than a jerry)...well, you get the idea: a big camera and a bunch of big lenses would take me over the weight limit on the blue bridge. Yeah digital point & shoots!

Thanks. I guess I hadn't checked out this site enough. I think this is the thread you're suggesting:

Lots of good photos...Wes, you're a pro. I'll stop posting to this thread, and join that one. Sorry for starting a new one.

Damn lizards. I have yet to get a decent picture of one. They are faster than my camera and me. The detail in your shot is amazing.

Yeah. You gotta hate carrying an SUV. Digital or Analog - they're both really heavy and hard to carry - especially when loaded down with a few noisy kids and a MILF talking on her cell phone.
