a tight heartfelt hug
Variety of color and beauty in nature
being able to make someone smile
the laughter of a child
watching animals do retarded things, loving to be silly
wimpers of forgotten souls
screams from unsuspecting victims
streams of red. . . .

oops, better stop there

You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president.
You realize that you control your own destiny.

embracing the unknown,
time off,
my truck and the stranger who just gave me a thumbs up,
the sound of big horsepower,
seeing things in a way that others can't and doing the things they just don't get,
the woods,
my wife and the dysfunctional family we've built,
knowing that I don't know
Pick myself up, stop lookin' back.
