I guess I'll add some advice that I have yet to see posted.......... Rest!
This is obviously only applicable to those who train extensively but this is an often overlooked part of training. Most of the "training" I have done over my life has been for distance running - and there is no question that the runners who don't take some significant rest each year get injured and/or just don't run well.
I think there is both a physical and mental aspect to rest. As far as climbing, I broke my collar bone in a bike crash in November - took 5 weeks off, and came back stronger. I've moved up at least a letter grade or two since returning.
I say you should take 3-4 consecutive weeks off once a year. Any thoughts?

Take Scin's advice train,train,train then train some more, I'm 49 and endurance is my weakness, key here is shorten recovery time after getting pumped, toughen your muscles and joints to take more punishment before you notice the pain.
Technique...as important as any part of climbing if not more so.
And I am sad to say you are climbing for the numbers...like 512OW said ,if only as a way to gauge progress.
As for fear of heights...can't help ya there...I worked on 300'-400' microwave towers for more than a year, was an iron worker connecting steel as high as 15 storiesfor ten years...and I'm still scared of falling. Look at what's at your feet, in front of your face and the next move.
I'll leave you with the words of the most patient and motivational partner on this board..."Take your time and have fun"

numbers aren't important. i base my climbing well or not on my mental not my physical. if my mind is working than everything else falls into place (and yes maybe i'll climb harder because of it) but that number is not what motivates me. please do not confuse others for yourself.
progression comes in many forms. for some it's the number others the journey. for those that focus on the number the magic is gone. you have reduced this to a simple sport to be measured and quantified. i am sorry.
