i think the system is ok.Shamis wrote:The fact that this site actually has a system in place to score climbers and compare them against each other......
Is it possible that there is simply a fun, motivational, and beneficial aspect to being able to compare your progress against others??
i think what we are dealing with in these "spray lords" is a lack of introspection... i suppose it to be common for these spray types to participate in a competitive manor that is initially innocent enough..
the annoying part evolves form some kind of a subconscious realization that they can achieve the same glorified feeling of superiority (that should only be an afterthought to a leader in a competitive realm) by skipping the competitive part and instead learn to bend there own self perception and fake the desire of everyone to want to listen and participate in there fictional world...and spray is this devil... it gives these individuals the priceless power of being able to love themselves without having to actually do what it is the think will make others love them.
ME? yea i spray some times.. but if i do it anymore it is a mistake.. i try to catch myself and stop. i find it to be so degrading!!
now i've created my own little limited perspective that i am so much better than these floppy jawed spray lords simply by believing that the truly superior stance is that of the one whom is conscious of the mental deficiency of others..
this really is a stance that will leave you feeling good about your self regardless of your climbing abilities.
I think everyone try this.
it is good enough to distract me from my own bigger problem of needing to feel superior to at least someone else...
oh and for the record:
i am strong as shit and i probably can flash your project....even in my state of multiple injurys!

now there is some cleverly disguised subtle spray right there.Winterstorm wrote:Hey pru, What about real humility?
After a year away from climbing I sent a route yesterday that I've done a dozen times , but in the ugliest style imaginable
"I haven't climbed in a year but I can still send off the couch." Nice work, Al!

Doesn't bother me at all. But there are many climbers I've met in other area's who would be appalled by such a thing.
Why? Isn't that what any sort of rating system does to climbing anyway?
Then again, this is retarded. Why am I commenting?
