Online Guide V3

Post by Paul3eb »

there's a new version of the online guide available.. this will be v3 but it's now linked to http://www.redriverclimbing.com/RRCGuide/. this way we'll be able to update it without breaking everyone's links each time..

so a few things that are new:
>submit all your input (stars, grade, spray, comments, etc.) at once with one button
>you can update the month when you sent a route, all the way back to the 70's for you crusties.. one note about that: selecting a date past 15 years ago will kill some of your spray charts. we'll have to figure out a work around for you old folks. as for having the exact day, t just seems like overkill for everyone, the programmers and your memory
>a slightly less cluttered layout for routes..
>if you've sent a route and your logged in, you'll see the day, lead/toprope type, and number of attempts it took you on the route page (kinda hard to explain.. just go see it)
>almost all your tables are now sortable on the fly (you don't have to reload the page). your spray, the wall list (index), timeframe sends, etc.. just click on the column titles.
>charts: wall charts, spray charts, grade and star vote charts, rrg stats, etc.
>a few bug fixes.. eg: you'll no longer be getting points for sending 5.1 (in php, 5.1 can be equal to 5.10.. unless you fix it).. but you'll be getting 9 points for 5.9-
>track the highest scorers for the past month (and then some) on the guide's home page

i'm sure i'm missing something.. but it's late so deal with it

more to come in the near future.. like:
>view your partner's spray when browsing the guide.. for instance, this would show my partner's spray and mine at roadside:
http://www.redriverclimbing.com/album_p ... ic_id=2377
>more ajax (for the non-techies, more or less it means you won't have to reload the page each time you submit something)
>some other cool stuff we'll surprise you with.. ;)

yasi and i worked on it so if you need someone to bitch at, we're your target. questions, comments, bugs.. please email us.. but know if you're a punk to yasi, you're messing with my climbing partner and that doesn't fly with me. so be cool about it.. ;)

yasi, thanks for being as patient with me on programming as you are with belaying. you're awesome.

thanks to ray and michelle again for being kick ass with this and letting us play around on here.

enjoy ;)
and great loves will one day have to part -smashing pumpkins

Nice work. The charts and maps are really cool. Must have spent a lot of time on it!
I wonder why rays "Distribution of Grades" chart looks like Calvins head from Calvin and Hobbes?

Great work. All are nice additions. The charts are GREAT on the spray list and on each individual route page. Is there any way to allow us to sort our spray list other than by name, such as by rating, grade, date, etc?

Job well done.

Thanks.

(I especially appreciate the ability to sort content, on the fly; a wonderful asset.)

Hey Yas 'n Paul! It looks awesome and I especially love the graphs that tell what people voted on the quality and grade.

I love the pie chart showing how much of the red I have completed. A constant reminder that I need to get out more.
