Post by JB »

Me and the misses are headin' West for a couple weeks... wanna go on the cheap.

There is free camping at Vedauwoo - just not at the main site area (it's pay). Look for the Vedauwoo Road exit on I-80. It is located about 2/3 of the way to Laramie from Cheyenne.

Yeah just drive past the main entrance to Ved. and keep going east on a dirt road. that will take you to free camping (at least is was last time I was there). Lander, Sinks is free camping passed the pay sites and before the start of the switchbacks, up at the top of the switchbacks is more remote also free camping. City park is/was free not sure if it still is. Free camping all over around Wild Iris.

Vedauwoo free camping is just about everywhere, except the main pay campground. 21 day limit per spot. You must go to taco tuesday in Laramie - $3.00 all you can eat.

Lander: City park is free and pretty cool - 3 night limit, and be perpared to get up early, as they mow and water in the morning.

Sinks, the free area is past the campgrounds, just past the work center, on the right. It is unsigned, and kinda tricky to find.

Wild Iris, nice free sights in the woods, but you need a 4X4 to get back there. I just bivied on my crash pad in the main lot.

When you going to be out?

Oh, and if you hit lander, stop by the Global Cafe. It is on Main across from Wild Iris Mtn Sports. Cool little place, with nice live music just about every night. If you are here on a Thursday, there is open mic, and you can join in.

Wes,

we're going to hang out and climb with disco and anne in Vooodooobvoooooo on the 27th and 28th, then head up to Lander, though we'll likely just drive through, check out the town and then head over to Pinedale. Where are you? If we camp around Lander, it'll likely be around Wild Iris so we can get in a little more acclimation before heading into the Winds

I am hoping to go to the Cirque around that time.

Cool. I think I will be in the tetons around then. Have fun, and be ready for the bugs in the winds, I hear this is a really bad year. When are you coming out of the winds? I might be around the front range by then.

don't know the answer to that yet, all depends on when I find a partner up to the task-which you wouldn't think would be hard to do.

Eric, I am game
