Even better. This way you don't have to get out of a sleeping bag. You just get up and start on breakfast and coffee. Have to drive to the crag? Just jump in the car, no need to wait for it to heat up.

[quote="Josephine"]um.... i actually have a "good" sleeping bag. it's a 15 degree north face synthetic. cost about $100 when i bought it about 10 mos ago. it's great - as long as it's above 50. i guess there's no quick and easy solution to macgyver-ing an electric blanket to keep me nice and toasty. i might just have to play around with the emergency blanket since i'm not willing to buy the "i'm going to climb mt everest" sleeping bag
You can also get another bag to put inside your existing bag......or on the outside depending on how snug the northface fits you. It has worked well for me when it gets below 0 and won't break the bank. A thick 1.5-2 inch thermarest groundpad is really key and also comfy!

Josephine, I have two layers of foam, purchased at Walmart, wrapped in an old down comforter under me. I have a sheet, cotton waffle blanket, and an opened sleeping bag over me. Add the dog at my feet and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
The only time I've ever been cold was the night Duke pulled off all the covers on my side. Yasi and Duke slept like babies.
Not that I climb or camp anymore either.......

What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.
