Be Careful Over The Holidays

Post by quicksilver »

Yesterday I visited with Mike (Zspiders) wife and daughter. Mike was working on a stained glass project at around 6:20a.m. the morning he was killed. He left his house at 6:30a.m. He was killed instantly at about
6:45 a.m. How it all changes in a few minutes. I have grown to like and respect most all of the climbers I come to know and it gives me hope for mankind when I see how committed and caring you all are. It appears that alcohol may have been a contibuting factor (the other driver - not Mike). So please be extra careful over the holidays and watch out for the idiots that drink and drive - I just don't want to lose more good people to car wrecks - alcohol or not.

Namaste, quicksilver.

My precious niece lost her life because a drunk driver thought he was Mario Andretti.

Be safe all.

Quicksilver,
How many times have I picked up drunk drivers and taken them to the hospitals. The problem is that they just don't care or think about what they're actions are going to cause. I picked up a guy last night that had too much to drink and smoked too much pot, passed out behind the wheel hit a guard rail on the expressway, somehow missed cars going back across three lanes of traffic, and hit the concrete wall. I even had a guy one night that wasn't wearing a seatbelt that hit a tree and broke the steering wheel column with his chest.

Everyone becareful, have fun, and Happy Holidays.

Don't think that your safe in the middle of the day either.

I see a few times each year. Some fucktard will ride in with the tow truck driver after wrecking his/her car. Obviously drunk. Blaming the whole thing on some animal running out in front of them. (And I'm not kidding. I've heard this same excuse a dozen times in the last 10 years). With no remorse to what they have done. They'll call there significant other to come pick them up.
And this alway happens over the holidays. I rarley see it during the summer months.

Ow and don't waste your time calling in a possible DUI to the cops. I can usually have the vehicle fixed by the time the respond.. My best advise is drive defensivly and never assume that the other car will do there suppose to do. AND ALWAYS WEAR YOU SEAT BELT!!!!! If you think you'll be fine without one. Sit in the passenger seat of a car one time move the seat all the way back. Have the driver get to about 70mph and hold the brakes to the floor. See if you don't end up on the floor boards even knowing the brakes are going to be hit.

kirker,
I hear the same line from the drunk or stoned driver (or both) they all say-while they stagger, "I'm o.k." They have a big hole in their cheeck or a large scrape or puncture in their head from hitting the windshield or whatever else in the vehicle.

this is a GREAT opportunity to look up the phone number of the taxi company in the city where you live and program it into your cell phone. if you're traveling you can do that for your visiting city too. it takes an internet connection and about 30 seconds worth of work. at the touch of a button you have a guarenteed ride home should you have extra fun at the party

Citi Scoot - in Louisville - but there's probably others in more places:
Call them and they come out, put a little scooter in the trunk, drive you and your car home, take out their scooter from trunk and leave. Safe. (But I really just think the scooters are super cool too)
