Political Mash UP

Post by pigsteak »

being a newbie to the political world, could someone explain to me how this whole "choosing a candidate" works....let's just use the Democrats as an example.

I understand that Iowa holds the first caucus....what in the world is the significance of this event? Is there anything that comes out of it more than a straw poll for creating momentum. Do the votes that get cast actually end up being who the state of Iowa have to support as the Democratic nominee?

Do all 50 states hold these elections prior to the elections? if not, how do certain states get picked before others? How many states hold a primary caucus? Some states have you register as a democrat/republican/independent/ etc...do you have to be registered as a democrat to vote in the democratic primary?

do the republicans also hold an Iowa caucus the same day as the democrats?

help me..I am drowning.

I'm pretty sure the states get to choose when they hold the nomination elections.

Did you bolt something really crappy this weekend, cheat on your wife or something even worse (like spend the weekend shopping for more crap that you don't need)?

never mix politics and climbing too damn volatile. sex, drugs, and religion are quite compatible. however being a newbie as you stated remember to state your opinion with a smile wipe the brown shit off your nose and run like hell....

There isn't much to explain. Some self important assholes who are just crooked enough and greedy enough to be arrogant enough to think that they should have control over the lives of others compete for the votes of a public so jaded to greed and corruption that they actually give power to the very people who should least wield it. I think that about sums it up.
