I was packing up to leave roadside on Memorial day, when a vehicle with a trailer pulls up to the dumpster and two guys get out and empty the trailer of trash into the dumpster. I've got a vehicle description and a partial plate.
This comes down to wether I should call some sort of local authorities. How much was Roadside camping closed because of the dumping and would cutting down on dumping there help re-open it? Would reporting this contribute to problems with the 'locals'? Are there other issues I don't know about?
Roadside dumping
It really would not do any good to report . the local s have been dumping down there for years. Roadside (greenthumb) as the locals call it, was intended to be picnic ground. Too many people camping there with no toilets poses a problem. it was never intended to be used that way. Besides there is plenty of primitive camping all over the gorge.

I indirectly "sold" the dumpster at Roadside back when I was working for Rumpke. I talked to the District Manager in Mt. Sterling after being disgusted with the trash overflowing from the 55-gal. drum trash cans. He then called the local officials. Even if it doesn't affect the camping situation, I would still report it. Climbers use it as a parking area. Also, Kentucky has various programs for litter prevention and illegal dumping that administered at a County level. You may have seen the "Certified Clean County" signs? This means that the County has a program to make sure that all residents have contracted for garbage collection.
