Any good preventatives for the "winter-flapper-blues"? As soon as the colder weather hits, my hands get torn up regularly on the rock. Much less frequently during warm weather.
Last year I tried "Tuff-foot" (the stuff you put on sporting dog's paws) on my hands, but did not really notice much difference. Other (useful) suggestions?

The best method I have found is to pick up some dirt off the ground, and make sure it is a good powdery dirt, chalk will not do cus it is too fine. Then rip off the dead skin so as not to allow a bacteria incubator. Next, poor the dirt into the nice red flesh, press it in and rub it with as much vigor as you can muster. Now proceed with climbing, the pain of climbing will be no where near as bad as what you just put yourself through so you can handle it. If you happen to have salt, that works even better, but I don't often bring salt to the crag.
