Gateway Pundit Oct. 27

** Sectarian deaths down 70% in Baghdad
** Car bombings down by 65% over last year
** Attacks on civilians down 59%
** Attacks on Iraqi forces down 62%
** Attacks against journalists down 70%

TheStreet.com Oct. 19 - New York Times earnings slide 50% in last year.

Rest assured, I'll let you know when violence drops 90%, and 95%, and 99%.
You probably won't read about it in the NY Times, for they only cover "all the news that's fit to print".

It would take so long to parse all this stuff and I just don't have the time. Your percentages are unexplained (down % from what in what time period and since when?), I'm sure they don't take into account the population reduction due to refugees, and though there may be less than half as many car bombings the ones I've heard about have been really massive as far as deaths and injuries go. You would also say that there have been only 10,000 or so civilian deaths in this war and you'll accuse the press of only printing too much "bad" news. If you print all the news and most of it is bad then...

What am I thinking? It's like arguing with a wall. Maybe things are going better over there now. They still suck fucking ass for everyone outside the Green Zone. People are fleeing the country in streams. I'm sure it'll be a great place when all that's left are militia and us.

Your administration fucked this up. I don't trust them not to continue to fuck things up.

Like I said, I'll keep you posted as violence continues to drop. I know you'll hate it. But it's much more important that we help the Iraqis establish peace and stability in their country than it is for you to have huge mortality statistics to beat the Bush administration over the head with. Why don't you try cheering for the good guys just once? It might cheer you up a bit.

Violence is down in Iraq as compared to last year. It is WAY up from 2003. How about that standard of living before the invasion? Or civilian deaths from military and terrorist attacks before the invasion? The first is down and the latter is up.

How long do you expect us to keep up the current troop levels? What will happen when we cannot keep our army in the field any longer? We're running out of time and bodies.

So things are better when we have more troops. Seems to me that Shinseki predicted we needed way more troops than Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz thought and he was forced to retire. And Lawrence Lindsey was forced to resign after he estimated the Iraq invasion at $200 million (if only it were so little). Your people have been fucking up in Iraq since the beginning and now that they've staggered onto a way to reduce violence it's only just as it is becoming impossible to support the required number of troops. It's like a retarded kid hammering away at the wrong pegs in the round hole and he finally gets the round peg after he's destroyed all the other pegs and it's bedtime. You can still pat yourself on the back, Timmy, even though you've fucked it up completely.

No matter how badly the war was fucked up from day one, even the decision to go to war for that matter, it is vitally important that we win. It would be unconscionable to simply to turn the country over to AQI and the secterian extremists at this point. Rumsfeld had it wrong, and now he's gone. Petraeus has it right. Even the mainstream press has started to notice that the tide has turned.

Hate Bush all you want. But don't condemn millions of Iraqis to a terrible fate just to make Bush look worse than he already does. Why can't you bring yourself to cheer for the good guys? The Sunnis and the Shi'ites are actually starting to cooperate with each other and get their country under control. Offer them some encouragement for Christ's sake.
