El Cap
Ass-Clown, So far you have said the length and difficulty are what make an El Cap route an El Cap route. I think all the non-Ass-Clowns would say that the location is what makes an El Cap route hence the name East Buttress of El Cap(of where???).
Forget it. I thought you would change your tune. But clearly you are holding on to something.....Maybe you actually bounce tested your way up the Nose and you want some special credit for doing the "real" deal. Let me be the first to say it. Ass-Clown you are flipp'in sweet.

Shamis, yes it was an aid route... like all great routes in the valley the aid climbers have to pound it out for all the free climbers.
JR, nope i have not done the nose...ass-clown your a fucking retard... keep thinking you are doing great things in the climbing world...

I don't have haters, I have fans in denial.
Well, in the Yosemite Free Climbs book, The East Butress is listed under "El Capitan". Does that count?ynp1 wrote: have any of you seen the east butt listed as one of the free routes on el cap???
No, Chris McNamara is telling you that. Harding got the FA of the Nose.ynp1 wrote: OW are telling me that harding did not get the FA of el cap????

Besides... El Cap is just a little crag for "real" climbers. I've seen people take longer on Ro Shampo than some people do for The Nose.
So basically, all those aiding the free routes up the Captain are equivalent to a 5.7 climber on Ro.

I would say that Seperate Reality is a great route in the valley, especially considering the impact it had on free climbing, and the inspiration it provided to countless climbers.ynp1 wrote:like all great routes in the valley the aid climbers have to pound it out for all the free climbers.
It was never pounded out by aid climbers...

512OW, pine line is in the same book under el cap, so is moby dick, short but thin, and many others... so if you do one of them did you climb el cap??? hey i even think you might me able to do one of them....
also have you done an el cap route??? do you really think doing a 3,000 foot wall is really anything like someone trying to do Ro? i really dont think you know what you are talking about when it comes to big wall climbing...
if i need a question answered i'll ask someone that knows something, and i'll come to you for all may rapping questions...

Hmmm... as far as Moby Dick and others... no, you didn't climb El Cap. They don't go to the top. The East Butress does.ynp1 wrote:512OW, pine line is in the same book under el cap, so is moby dick, short but thin, and many others... so if you do one of them did you climb el cap??? hey i even think you might me able to do one of them....
Yeah, I probably could do one. You could maybe aid them all...
Essentially, yes. There are dozens of guys who do El Cap before breakfast with the same ease as a sport climber on Ro. A gumby is a gumby... and well, most of those aid lines, by todays top standards, are gumby lines.ynp1 wrote: do you really think doing a 3,000 foot wall is really anything like someone trying to do Ro?
OHHH.... big wall climbing !!! See, you never said that before. You just said El Cap. No, East Butress is not a big wall route. Glad you recognized that. Good job. It is, however, on the rock we call "El Capitan".ynp1 wrote:

Good plan. I can't tell you shit about aid climbing, except that its boring as hell. I can tell you this about big wall climbing though... it moved on without you. The real challenges aren't in Yosemite anymore. Its not the cutting edge. Its a gumby playground... Wal Mart. Enjoy it.ynp1 wrote: if i need a question answered i'll ask someone that knows something, and i'll come to you for all may rapping questions...
