I find getting up early takes care of the crowd problem.
Also If you were at the gallery, why not check out: curbside, playground, shady grove, shire, north 40, WABW, courtesywall, etc.. There is def no shortage of good walls all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Have a back up plan..
Also most of the popular crags lighten up after 2-3 on weekends. What you'll find is a lot of people just not many climbing. I guess they get tired early.
The gallery is located near, as chriss said, five others cliffs with some good routes. If crowds and dogs piss you off leave and climb somewhere else that is the only solution. I guess you could have walked up to gold rush and taken a shit or something drastic to try to get people to leave but when its crowed there are two options take it or leave.
on sat my partner and i started at the shire. there were already about 6 people there. we did the 1 route i really wanted (fortuantely it was the only one that was open). while we were on it 2 more couples came up. 12 people at a small wall seemed excessive. we left and hiked over to the playground. it was us + 1 other couple. no crowds or lines.
there is a time to wait in line and a time to be flexible and move on.
