Interesting Comment About RRG Climbing

Post by whatahutch »

I don't know if this was posted on here yet, but it comes from a Euro climbing site/forum. Great acknowledgement from the world and to the world.

"Red River Gorge is #1
This is the founder of 8a speaking. I want to officially state that Red River Gorge is the best sport climbing area in the world. Just book a flight and you will find more and better quality routes than in any other area in the world. Then again, scenery and bolting is not so good and rest days are spent waiting for the next climbing day. But climbing wise RRG is way better than any other climbing destination I've been to."

Cool Stuff. Here is the website link http://www.8a.nu/site2/
I guess just copy and paste.

It's all fun and games until we are standing in line to get on the routes.

anyone know what he meant by "bolting not so good"? I am assuming they only climbed the high end routes, which would mean Hugh, Ramsey, Martin, Barker, et al bolted them...and I would bet my left leg they are all VERY competent bolters...

or does he mean that bolting routes on a rest day is not really a good idea when trying to send?

its all fun and games until the PMRP gets paid off.... time for more ultra super secret, inner circle, local only-and rhunt, cliffs to get bolted. We need at least 2 really good cliffs that stay off the online guide and out of a paper book for about 5 years... like they use to do it. Hey piggy when you gonna let me borrow your drill?

Maybe the bolts are too far apart to be considered good?
