DMW, these were not security guards. As on most large campuses the campus police have full powers of city police. And have supposedly been through the same training. Though they obviously were at the bottom of the class resulting in a job that is simply to harass underage drinkers.

I watched the video...pretty funny actually..either the dude was mentally imbalanced, or he was trying to get a rise out of people. on one of the videos, he even says he has his own camera crew there....something tells me he was looking to get a rise from folks...he got it.

but unless some one's life was being endangered, a taser is a bit much.

I e-mailed the President of UF. He responded and seems just as shocked that this all happened as anyone else (except the lurkist and ynot, whom clearly have lived hard lives and should not be tampered with). The rent-a-cops are on paid leave, the kid is still at the school, and they are launching an independant investigation because, as he so gently put it, there was a "lack of civil discourse, which is the keystone of an academic institution."

were you asleep in college? you don't have the right to yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater....are you pissed that they are blocking your free speech? you don't have the right to say you have a bomb on an airplane. another infringement of free speech?

uh, the "extreme and illogical conclusion" is to equate that kid with someone yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. There is no relation between that and what he did much less equivalency.

Louisville cops tasered a crazy vietnam vet here until his heart exploded. I'm pretty sure the motherfuckers are still cops.
