Zinc Plated vs Steel T-Nuts

Post by eggersd »

I'm helping build an in-door (very air conditioned) wall for a Kids program and wondering if regular Steel T-nuts are OK or I need to spend the extra $ and get zinc plated t-nuts.
Any advice?
Thanks,
-Derek

i'd go ahead and use steel - they hold up pretty well. however i wouldnt use pound-ins in a commercial application. rather, id cut out wooden large washers (use a hole saw and a drill press) and put the screw ins into these, i'd then glue them to the panels. reason is if a tnut strips etc the panel isnt compromised and thus you have a more durable wall.
