The table Alan posted is surprising because it contradicts earlier research. A few years ago, the Anneberg School did research into media "news sources". In it, people who said they got most of their "news" from Rush Limbaugh self-identified as "very well informed" about current events, but when given a test of knowledge of basic current events, they scored poorly. (Viewers of "fake news" The Daily Show scored relatively well in the knowledge test.)
