Indoor accomodations at the Red

Post by tantrikclimber »

My buddy and I are flying in from out of town in October. Tough to carry camping gear and all in the plane.

Can you recommend some cheap motel / guesthouse which is close to all the major crags that I can book in advance?

Thanks

might be worth renting a cabin at torrent - won't be cheap, but would be close to great climbing!

when are you coming in october? the Petzel Roctrip is happening the 2nd weekend. may be something to consider. should be a great time for all!

Fall is always a busy season and accomodations book rapidly. When in October are you coming? The Petzl Roc Trip at Rocktoberfest event October 12 - 14th, 2007 will be bringing several more hundreds of people to the Red above what would normally be there for fall climbing weather. It will be busy both the week before and after the event. True North Outfitters in Pine Ridge is a hostel that caters to climbers. Lil Abner's in Slade is the closest motel but good luck in getting a reservation. Travelwise Motor Inn and Tinchner's Motel in Beattyville are close to climbing in the Southern Region. Campton Parkway Inn in Campton and Abners Motel in Stanton are down the road a bit but still reasonably close if other options are booked. Hope that helps.

I remember the ol' days when you just trusted the LSD to provide.

Thanks for all the suggestions fellow rockstars!

I'm going to try Li'l Abner as that is the closest to all the action. Failing which I'll try some of the other options.

See you in October!
