I think the fact that you liked to go light shows me you were headed in the right direction. The direction that climbing indeed went. However, most climbers never even consider playing this game you speak of. In my opinion the Game is what is the hardest thing can I climb or even more to the point what is the hardest single move can I do. If you haven't noticed you don't even need one stopper, hex,or even cam. Most people use a crash pad to play this game. But being as most people around here live closer to the Red than they do boulders they have draws. Believe it or not these same romantic notions you have about your routes and gear placements some relatively new climber is laying awake at night thinking about one itsy-bitsy target hold that he or she can't seem to stick.

Not true. That bouldering mat could easily prepare you for the hard move 5 pitches up on the Diamond. Thats the whole point of it, after all...

Come on guy. Lets see here... What is the hardest thing on the Diamond? Most likely a Tommy Caldwell route. Dollars to Donuts that Tommy has a crash pad.
