Pru - great idea - how do we get it into action? That would be way cool.
The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own.
You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president.
You realize that you control your own destiny.

Lets also get rid of everyone who uses more money in insurance than they pay, because they are driving the costs up for people like me who haven't been to the doctor in years. .
Andrew, that's it and that's not it, at the same time, that's the paradox trapped in an enigma I deal with every day.
You know I'm a Vet, if not, now you do, I have a strong sense of Patriotism, National awareness, current events, American History, and and overall sense of reading between the lines. I have no problem what so ever with any immigrant coming here, applying, swearing the oath, living the American dream. I do have a problem with people ignoring the rules, raping my countries system, and then leaving back to they're shit hole and spending the "loot" they have illegally obtained while in my country, who I swore to defend from enemies, both foreign and domestic. I allow this sense of Americanism to get in the way at times, especially when my heart tells me that I should'nt have a problem with this or these people. I know it seems absolutley hypocritical to say I don't mind paying taxes for the "lucky to be born here shitsticks" but luck, in-breeding, what have you, our system, lacking though it is, is designed to support "our " down trodden, does it?? not this discussion, so let it support real Americans (born here or naturalized) We do agree on key points, I don't know the answers either, but I have every right to support the laws we have, that work, without guilt, shame, or anyone telling me that I'm wrong for doing so. (not you) I've litterally put my ass on the line for the American dream, how many others can say the same, does anyone owe me anything???, hell no, I will make it or break it myself, but do I and many others (middle class) feel we are doing the lions share, fuck yes, are we allowed to bitch, rightly so.... I am that guy you see helping the people who's car is broken down in the middle of the night or giving the bum his "spare" change to go buy beer instead of food, but damn give a brother a breath between beat downs.........

I've honestly never heard this idea proposed. I suppose you and I could present the idea before congress and call it the "Red River Climbing dot com heals the world" bill (or something).

You game? I know all the good bars in Georgetown (DC)!

I read allot of these at other times, heres an interesting read as wel....
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new
constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at
the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier: "A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of
government." "A democracy will continue to exist up until the time
that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the
public treasury." "From that moment on, the majority always vote for
the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to
loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." "The
average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning
of history, has been about 200 years." "During those 200 years, those
nations always progressed through the following sequence: 1. from
bondage to spiritual faith; 2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty; 4. from liberty to abundance; 5. from
abundance to complacency; 6. from complacency to apathy; 7. from
apathy to dependence; 8. From dependence back into bondage" Professor
Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St.Paul, Minnesota ,
points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential
election: Number of States won by: Gore: 19; Bush: 29 Square miles of
land won by: Gore: 580,000; Bush: 2,427,000 Population of counties
won by: Gore: 127 million; Bush: 143 million Murder rate per 100,000
residents in counties won by: Gore: 13.2; Bush: 2.1 Professor Olson
adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the
land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's
territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned
tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."Olson
believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency
and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with
some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached
the "governmental dependency" phase. If Congress grants amnesty and
citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and
they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake,
knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

interesting tidbits from Seattle, which of course is in a live and let live Blue state debacle, lots and lots of (pc term alert) panhandlers here, our hosts being former New Yorkers have commented that the liberal views of the locals have fueled the situation for better or worse- I just have trouble giving money or food to people who are smoking cigarettes while asking for change.
