I just read the cave story.......it is freaky! i can't get past 5/19/01 either. It seems to me he's making it out to be a bigger deal than it really is. I also believe it may be a little of a lie. It seems way to much like a scary movie you'd see in the theaters. Pretty cool though

I couldn't read that much text on the internet so I just skimmed it and looked at the pics.
The whole time I was waiting for one of those pop-ups to freak the *&#t out of me.

Cavers are freaks man! Great read !Why in heck would anyone go back in there?
friggin nuts.
Of course cavers probably say the same stuff about us. Climbers are freaks! Why would anyone climb an offwidth crack? Friggin nuts.
I got sucked into that story till he started talking about something pulling on the rope. I think its a real story with some spice he made up while he was down there.

Darmo, et.al.;
The cave on the trail up to natural bridge ranges from about 4' high to probably 20' high. It goes all the way through the hill- from the point where you can no longer see light from the entrance, it's probably only 10 yards until you see light from the exit. There are a couple branches that dead end. Don't know about the others mentioned above.

I wish I had the patience to sit here and read that whole story... I read like 3 pages of it and I'm getting antsy. Oh well, maybe later. The pictures look crazy though! I don't know, ynot, I think cavers can qualify as some of the few people crazier than we are... :P

Caves around here aren't very big at all. Less than half a mile long for most. THe longest one I know of is closed but it's a mile from one entrance to the next on a map.

Copperheads hang out evreywhere, though typically not IN caves.

THe old Whittleton trial has a cool cave. Just past the spur to Whittleton arch on the left side of the creek.

Hey Wicked Tribe.
All the years I've been coming to the Red, I've never stopped at the Bison Way parking area. The lot down off the road on the end of the bridge furthest from the Gladie Center.
What is the big draw to this area? It is always crowded.
Is it for the hiking?

Hiking and Indian Staircase.

It's also a Sheltowee Trace Connector, there is a lot of hiking and cliffline up in Gladie Creek Valley.

One day when I have a whitewater kayak again and find my cohones (after a decent rain) it will be the takeout for a killer WW run.
