i'm selling mentors for $25 a piece if anybody wants one. I also have Round 2its, so you can get one of those first, that way you can say you'll get a mentor when you get a round2it.

Josephine, if you dont want to unclip your racking biner but want more length quickly, try doing one of three things. Use tripled slings and biners as draws, quickly lengthens with easy of use. Carry some normal runners on biners, that way, instead of reaching for a draw, you can grab the webbing and clip it. The final solution is to just clip the draw into the webbing without removing the biner at all. This dosen't account for the metal on metal problems, but:

I think I remember from my trip to YNP, seeing someone aid climbing and clipping biner to biner...I am nowhere near a competant aid climber...but maybe they did it to get higher purchase?

Sometimes, yes. Othertimes when clipping a pin, two biners leaves the bottom biner (rope biner) turned in a such a way that it won't pin the rope against the rock. That may be what you saw.

Its similiar to the terrible anchor setup of a hanger and one quicklink. Two quicklinks on each hanger would work WAY better.

When clipping a cam in, just clip a draw into the webbing and leave the racking biner unclipped if you're in a hurry.

Another option, for cams that don't have a long enough webbing to make them ok to clip off directly, you can just use draws to rack them with. have one biner clipped into your harness that is clipped into the cam, and also one end of a draw.
