Good route at Purple Valley

Post by Danny »

I did a route at Purple Valley that is really good but I probably shouldn't announce where it's at exactly on here. What is the current consensus on talking about new routes within the Gorge Area? Anyway, it starts on some plates up to a runout face that is a little tricky then to a ledge. Then it is slightly overhung handstack size (slightly flaring), then a constriction too narrow to move your leg through then more overhung armbar type offwidth then a ledge. Then more crack/face/offwidth/chimney to the topout at 100 feet. I don't think I've done any 5.10 offwidths yet but I'd guess it's about 10b. At first I thought it was a bit harder till I figured out a sequence for the offwidth. It's pretty cool. If anyone would like to check it out let me know. I need to go try The Specimen for comparison. Tbone said someone may have done it before but there were lots of little edges that would likely have been broken already if someone had been on it. I left some rap webbing at the top. Don't lead it unless you are solid on 5.10 because of the runout on the face. You can take nice clean wippers out of the offwidth. If you use slings in the right places you can do it in one pitch with minimal drag.
