Dogs at Muir

exactly, oldman, which is why I don't climb at Muir anymore. If and when I do again it will be without my dogs. No big deal. Some people are going to continue to violate the rules, and the next logical step is that Muir is going to be closed down to public climbing. The big question in my mind is enforcement. It's going to have to be done, and without a plan, it's not going to work.

Pru and Oldman do have a point. I can't see people walking right by with their unleashed dogs a (hopefully) BIG sign that says "NO DOGS ALLOWED" but then again...

A little off topic from the thread. For that I apologize, but when did it become cool to talk about beating dogs and the such.

It always makes me laugh when someone threatens to kick dogs, "make them leave on a stretcher". It takes a big man to do such a thing. Remember that its the dog owner that is in the wrong, not the dog, they are the one that you should have a problem with. Use some common sense! Dogs are not people, their owners are responsible for their actions.

Think about it in this light. How would you like it if someone made the same claim about your daughter that you made about dogs??

Also, I clump together guys that hit dogs with those that hit females and kids. Do you hit your girlfriend??

Don't make such ridiculous statements .... man your dog "will be sent away on a stretcher". Save them for you ridiculous songs.

yo Chriss get over it. What is the big freaking deal. If I am attacked by a dog, I will defend myself which could mean hurting or killing the attacking dog. Wouldn't you do the same? Isn't that what 512OW was pretty much saying.

Funny true story:

We were walking the valley floor of Muir and these guys come trotting by on horses. The last guy turns around and yells, "C'mon N*****r!! N*****r!! N*****r!!" From around the corner comes a pure black and big poodle. Only in Wolf County ...

Once agian, I apologize for being so off topic, but no that is not what he is saying. Of course anyone would protect themself from a dog attacking them, I do not think there is a question there. But

Thanks Rick, whenever there was a chance I mind end up at Muir the dog stayed home it continued to amaze me that others had such difficulty making the same call.

they walk by the "dogs must be leashed" sign with their dogs running loose all the time...

Why do climbers bring their dogs to the crag anyway? I mean, unless he's a great belayer or something, maybe a ropegun... but why?
