I love the technology of hybrids. They just don't make sense economically for those of us who can't afford to pay cash for a new car.

You can get in line for a Smart Car for $99. At least they are cuter than the prius.

They have been around in Europe for years. It was orignally a project between Mercedes Benz and Swatch (I think). There is one on display at MOMA in New York City. They get incredible mileage without being a hybrid. Of course, they are tiny.
