*&%#$@ Snakes

Post by chester »

5 snakes (4 found on routes) on Sunday, Rat Snakes
3 snakes (2 found on a route) on Tuesday, Copperheads

Today I came eye to eye with a freaking copperhead...

Sunday they were in the finger cracks at T-Wall...

I hate snakes.

We saw one next to the trail to skybridge arch. I bet 40 old ladies walked right by it and never knew it was there. It hadn't moved a single muscle when we went back an hour later. It was just waiting for dinner to scamper by.
Anyone know what crag is visible from the south side of the arch?We saw a couple cool lines through the binoculars.

These snakes were all in Tennessee...Stone Door and T-Wall..
I was starting to get used to them.

But the secret is not to do finger cracks in the summer...

that is hiliarious t bone, I came eye to eye with a snake on Ralph and Bobs last year and it was the fastest downclimbing I have ever done as the snake chased me down, I didn't bother to look to see if it had eliptical or round eyes, but it didn't look friendly and my belayer kept yelling not to throw it down on top of him.

I came across a snake about half way up Hooky Pals at Oil Crack Saturday morning. Didn't get a good look at it since I was already past it but from the coloring, I'd say it was a copperhead.

It sort of went with all the other life found on that route. Trees, flowers, lichen, moss, ferns, spiders, bees, etc. What a natural experience.

My dog found 3 copperheads at Solar Collector a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately, they were cold and slow or I might not have a dog anymore
