The developer at Boat Rock http://www.seclimbers.org/access/2003/B ... sted.shtml
is currently cutting down and grinding up all of the trees at Boat Rock. Every shrub, mushroom and salamander are getting tossed in to the tub grinder and turned into mulch.

The Titanic, Popes Face, Glass Mantle, The Whale, are all sitting in a bald earth field where a mature oak forest once stood.

This could easily happen to your crag. Help us save the one of the last remaining parcels (7.8-acre tract) on the Boat ROck ridge that is currently owned by the SCC. If you cant make it to the party, you can send a donation to:
The SCC
1936 Wellona Place NE
Atlanta, GA 30345

thanks for your support.

That is really aweful to hear Brad! Good luck to the SCC on raising the funds.Maybe an Arbor day is definitely in the near future for that tract! I'll donate a tree!
Just genuinely disengenuous.

we ended up raising a ton of money (rough amount is $14,000) and everyone had a great time. I think we have saved our portion of Boat Rock for another year. The area around the lake is going to become a subdivision, hence the developer cutting all the trees around the boulders. A sad site. Thanks to all that came to the event and supported our little urban boulder field.
