I just listened to the song again. Fuggin' A - Can't take the heat? There's no heat there - just calling a spade a spade.

I find it more than laughable that a person with such talent and fearlessness is afraid of these lyrics.

Let this be a lesson to the young'uns - be careful who you choose for a hero.

Mmmmmm. Hero.

Post the letter! Cease and desist letters usually are hillarious in a perverse way, and typically make the lawyer's client look like an even bigger ass! Let's see it!

I'd guess that Dean doesn't quite realize how his lawyers are making him look by doing this, so I'd guess that as soon as feedback gets to him through the community, there will be another letter from his lawyers backpedaling. (And, of course, they'll charge him a zillion bucks for sending the first letter and for the retraction)

Very true. Does anyone know who his sponsors are?
I thought i read somewhere that patagonia dumped him over this - but he's still listed on their website.

kinda sad he can't appreciate such a fine tune. no sense of humor is right.

I want to know who's paying for the lawyer... I bet it's another climber who was sharing beers with Dean over a campfire one night and in a moment of awestruckedness at being given the time of day by a professional rock climber decided to help Dean Potter take a stand against this very serious injustice in exchange for a couple belays on his proj.

Dean is mad at Odub for using the same freedom he used to harm access, like Odub harmed his ego, what a hypocrite!!! I'm voicing my opinion to Patagonia, as if it will help, but I will.
