Want guidance to believe in something?
Need a purpose or a cause?
Do you realize how sensitive access is at the Red?
Do you know that we will loose over 25% of the climbing at the Red if we don't pay the PMRP mortgage every year?
Do you even know what the PRMP is?
Do you know that Roadside, Torrent, Muir, Mother Lode, Solar Collector, Dark Side, Sore Heel (Shady Grove, Purgatory, Playground etc.) Drive By, Bob Marley etc. are all private property?
Check it out!

Big Red,
It's alright to have ideals, and it's just as alright to have hero's, but when your hero's ideals jeapordize freedoms we all enjoy, he's out of line and you are out of your mind if you think everyone will just sing koom bye ya, smoke a bowl and forgive the old boy. I understand what your saying, and I'm not saying your wrong to stand up for someone you look up to, but many people looked up to Jim Jones, went to Guyanna, and never came back, so it's o.k. to question the actions of anyone, even our hero's.

And as far as Potter, well said everyone. I guess it's just so hard to let go of young views from films like Masters of Stone 5. I think regardless, I will always have some type of respect for people who push physical limits so far, even if I have other conflicting feelings.
My belief is to push your limitations as far as you can while not hurting others. I agree with you guys on access whether it be here at the Red or in Utah, nobody wants to see it limited or shut down completely, ie torrent. However, I do have a slight problem with the fact that Potter is getting shitted upon so heavily because of a kneejerk overreaction by the park service. The arch is delicate, hence the name, but have you ever seen the gross black trail from parking lot to it, made from the massive amounts of tourist that march the trail to see it? People value the aesthetic or the arch so much that they forget they are disrespecting the same sandstone under their feet that the arch is made from. Theres some Hypocrisy. All I am saying, is that I think the park service is going a little overboard and potter is getting all the heat. And, by the way, its the Park Services actions that most people are pissed about, not the actual action of Dean. They are using him. And yeah, maybe access should be limited to protect certain delicate structures like the arch. But again, the P.S. is going too overboard with it.
So, Sure maybe Potter deserves some shit, but not a full out Hurricane of Shit. Throw some at the park service for not knowing moderation.

Grip it and Rip it!
Actually, most desert climbers ARE pissed at Dean. Climbing arches has always been an "underground" activity. It was an unspoken rule that the Park Service couldn't know about the arch climbs. Potter even acknowledges that he knows of "underground" guides to arch bagging. Then he publicized the hell out of it.
So yeah, the guy is strong, and bold. But he's not the brightest bulb in the strand.
