I'm planning on being at the Coal Bank Parking Lot around 9-9:30 with some tools and a Game Plan. A rake, shovel, mattock, or sledge hammer may come in handy if you can bring them, along with some work gloves.

So is the Coal Bank Parking Lot the one near Volunteer Wall, the original parking lot where you cross the small creek on the right past the Motherlode, or the parking lot for Drive By etc.?

Thanks Paul, for saving me from sitting in a parking lot with no one around doing any work and everyone going off to climb.

Directions to Coal Bank

Post by Snake »

-From the 11/715 Intersection(located about a mile past Torrent going towards Beattyville) drive 1.5 miles to Fixer Road(on the right at the signs for "ZOE" and "Peaceful Valley Resort").

-Drive 2/10 mile and turn left at the intersection.

-Follow Fixer Road 3.6 miles and locate an oil tank on the left with a "face" painted on it. Turn right here.

-Drive 3/10 mile to the Coal Bank Parking Lot. Solar, Farside, Darkside, & Gold Coast are accessed from this lot. This road is getting rough and may be difficult to travel if your vehicle has low clearance.

I fell at today (Saturday) Sunbeam Buttress and hit my foot on a ledge. I doubt that it is fractured, but it is painful. I am going to give the trail day a skip. Sorry folks. I'll show at the next one.

Sorry about not RSVPing earlier BCombs and I didn't realize trail day is this weekend. So count us in. We're leaving Cincy 7ish. We'll bring tools.

What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.
