Man creates God
Man creates religion to honor God
Man kills Man over religion
Where did God go
Religion
[quote="where's god?"]Where's God?
A couple had two little boys, ages 8 and 10, who were excessively mischievous. They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew that, if any mischief occurred in their town, their sons were probably involved. The boys' mother heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The clergyman agreed, but asked to see them individually. So the mother sent her 8-year-old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the clergyman in the afternoon. The clergyman, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is God?â€

I know I have recently quoted this on the "listening to" thread but it works here too.
Frank Zappa Said:
Frank Zappa Said:
Hey, we cant really be dumb
If were just following gods orders
Hey, lets get serious...
God knows what hes doin
He wrote this book here
An the book says:
He made us all to be just like him,
So...
If were dumb...
Then God is dumb...
(an maybe even a little ugly on the side)
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared
I would say that we are surrounded by gods concepts only we spend too much time arguing the unimportant particulars to ever notice. Not to mention the fact that if we new them all we would have no more questions and soon become board with life and thus cease to partake.
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared
dmw, a singer/songwriter named Rich Mullins wrote that song...I heard him speak once about how he hated ever writing that song, because of how it trivialized what he was trying to present.
Mr. Mullins died in a car accident about 10 years ago when his Jeep flipped and he wasn't wearing a seatbelt...not sure what god thinks about seatbelts.

Good job, Crankmas. What you've pointed out is a logical fallacy called equivocation. It involves twisting a word or a statement to mean something else, and argued from this false stance. In the case you mentioned, that people are created in the image of God, gets twisted into we are just like God. As you point out, an image is not the real McCoy.
