I spoke with the benefactor providing the $5,000 match and they have agreed to the following to make this challenge more fun and exciting:

1) This challenge will run for four months, March, April, May, & June 2007 and the challenge amount for each month will be $1,250. That means for each month if $1,250 is raised by the end of the month then that amount will will be matched with $1,250 from the benefactor. For checks mailed in we will consider the postmarked date as counting for the month in which it was mailed.

2) The individual who contributes the largest amount in each month or the person who organizes a fundraiser that raises the largest amount, whichever is greater, will be recognized as the "RRGCC Fundraiser of the Month" and will receive a gift package of appreciation. This gift package will consist of at least a climbing related DVD and a t-shirt. We are working on getting some other goodies to put in these packages and will let everyone know what they are as the packages are put together.

Home gym fundraisers were very effective last year. Having a locally sponsored slide show is another great fundraising idea. Use your imagination, have some fun, and let's make this work in continuing to secure the largest (and I dare to say best) climber owned climbing area in the country.

Bump ...

Let's not forget the RRC.com online auction as a fundraising tool: http://www.redriverclimbing.com/auction.php

Let's get some goods & services up on the auction page y'all.

Some GREAT news folks. Since this fundraiser was kicked off, over $3,000 has been raised! That means we have met not only the March matching goal but also the April matching goal. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

i got a few fundraising ideas from the Red Rock Rendezvous that *might* work for us, too.

they auctioned off 2 beautiful rope mats. both mats went for over $150 in their silent auction. perhaps some of you w/old ropes could donate them and others could weave them into some grand creation. i'm not really the crafty type, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out (right?!).

then they auctioned off chris linder and chris sharma. 1 day of climbing w/them the following monday. linder went for $1100 and sharma for $2400. (makes me wish i had $$$$!!!) i know those two don't really have a connection with RRG, but perhaps there is someone of local fame that would be auctioned off?

anyways, those are a couple of different ideas that seemed to work pretty well.
