I took a nutrition class at CSCC about a year ago. In that class it was said that pop/soda was the number one cause of childhood obesity. Drinking one non-diet soda is about the same(if not more)than eating a candy bar..or two.

I'm with you Yas I don't remember being allowed to drink a lot of soda while at school or with school functions, at least not until high school. Pop was sort of a treat when I was a kid, not the primary drink as it is today.

Drug up kids to make them healthy? And this is the logic of some highly educated people.

Unfortunately it might be better for these kids to lose weight anyway than no way since no one in this country seems to want to make it illegal overfeed a kid. It's no different than handing a kid a hand grenade, just slower.

3500 calories = 1 pound.
Just a small amount of activity, and reasonable food consuption (not a diet). One can expect to loss weight or maintain what they have.

But when you factor in.
Donuts, coke, dessert ceral - for breakfast
McDonalds, - for lunch
They latest quick fix prossesed food - for dinner
bag of chips, six pack of beer, cookies - late nite snack

And all you did in between those meals is work/school, drive to and from work/school, and watch tv.

It won't take long for the incoming calories start to out weight the out going.

Crap. You're telling me a six pack of beer will make me fat? I wish someone had told me that a long time ago.

I usually just skip dinner and flog myself at the track to justify the necessary evil.
