Jeezus.
That's why I don't favor gun bills.

I'd hope we could count on people to defend constitutional rights that would protect all our citizens. There have been serious abuses of the 4th,5th,and 6th ammendment recently (this would be where you play your Hitler card) but from what I saw, if the gun lobby isn't hiding in a bunker, they'll be aiding and abetting the round-up.

No one has said there was no need to own an ak.
Your facts are wrong but it's really not important anyway.
relax. No one is taking your guns from you.
If you dont own guns, thats cool with me, but like religion, keep you opinion to yourself. But, if you choose not to own, you have zero right to complain about the matter.
Sorry, but nothing works like that thank goodness.

Gunslnga responds....
Thats the problem, too many pro-gunners on both sides are hiding they're heads in the sand, they don't want any potholes on the road to the whitehouse.

By round-up, I was refering to unlawful incarceration, warrentless searches, lack of due process (or any process), of American citizens not the guns. Why does it seem that the people who reference Hitler (not you specifically) when it comes to gun registration are missing in action when the truly Hitleresque abuses of the Bill of Rights occur?

We won't be 30's Germany, but it won't be thanks to the gun lobby. They've become enablers. They could only be more so, by pointing their guns at us.

"Violent Crime in Cities Shows Sharp Surge"

..............
..............

While overall crime has been declining nationwide, police officials have been warning of a rise in murder, robbery and gun assaults since late 2005, particularly in midsize cities and the Midwest. Now, they say, two years of data indicates that the spike is more than an aberration.

like the fine state of Iran I am personally pursuing the acquisition of nuclear weapons, can you pleez contact your state legislatures and have them put their pension funds in companies that would support my goals as the teachers unions in California, Massachusetts, Missouri and other states do. This is a letter my cousin sent to Geoff Davis in KY, now I know why I voted for this guy.........

March 9, 2007

Dear Mr. Williams:

Thank you for contacting me about H.R. 1022, the Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act of 2007. It is good to hear from you.

H.R. 1022 was introduced by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy [NY-04] on February 13, 2007. This bill would reinstate the expired provisions related to so-called assault weapons and large capacity ammunition feeding devices for a period of ten years. H.R.1022 also revises the definition of "semiautomatic assault weapon" to include conversion kits (used to change a simple firearm into such a weapon) and any semiautomatic rifle or pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine. The bill includes special provisions for the transfer and sale of semiautomatic assault weapons.

This bill will do little to deter violence and control crime. Federal law enforcement agencies estimate that up to 75 % of all guns used in a crime are either purchased illegally or stolen. By obtaining guns on the black market or through theft, criminals will continue to effectively evade any gun control measure. Instead, we should focus on tougher laws and penalties against criminal activity.

As you know, the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads: ".the right of people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The plain language of this amendment guarantees the right of law-abiding citizens to purchase and own the firearms of their choosing. H.R. 1022 has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, of which I am not a member. However, should this bill come to the House floor for a vote, I will oppose it as well as any other legislation that seeks to hinder our Second Amendment rights.

Thank you for sharing your opinions with me. Please feel free to call me at 202-225-3465 about this or any other issue. You can sign-up to receive the Fourth District's E-Mail Newsletter by visiting my website at <a href="http://geoffdavis.mail.house.gov/emails ... up.aspx</a>.

Geoff Davis

Member of Congress

Speaking of guns, the tax check is burning a hole in my pocket. Gun time. Browning Hi-Power maybe? Or how bout a Colt Python. A 1911 or 1991? I've wanted a Thompson Contender for a long time.

So many wonderful guns. So little money.

As John Lennon (ironically?) sang, "Happiness is a warm gun."

Original Belguim browning??? or Canadian made Inglis???? or one of the many new made Brownings??? I just aquired a new Charles Daily 1911 .45 with a 4 inch barrel. I prefer Glocks for any tactical situation and once you reach a certain level of shooting ability, you can carry it for any situation. I own a .38 revolver and a Walther PP in .32, all are great weapons. There are a world of choices, I always get asked "hey Todd, I'm buying a gun what should I buy" I always ask, "what do you need it for?, fun, self defense, home protection, sport shooting?" before I recomend one. What ever you buy, will be the right decision......

I'm not sure what kind of Browning! All my catalogs/magazines are at work. I'm not familiar with Charles Daily. It sounds cool. The .45 has been around since dirt was young, but it is a great size. I can understand why you like a Glock. Your experience qualifies you to handle it safely. But everybody in my family shoots the guns we've got (well, most of them), and none of us have your expertise. On a pistol I'm always looking for a thumb safety, ambidextrous if possible. I'm left-handed. It's easy to set and easy to look at the gun and see if it's on. Choices are limited. I've got a 3913 Tactical S&W 9 mm, which is nice. You've got a real Walther. I've got a "fake" one. It's a limited edition 75 year anniversary made by S&W through some weird handshake between the companies. It's engraved and even has an itty-bitty amount of gold on it, a .380. Also got a sorta ugly Ruger .45 that is a still a darn nice gun. Then a couple of revolvers. Daughter has a pretty little stainless steel Model 60 S&W .357. The only safety on that is a 90 pound trigger pull. Haha! OK, maybe it's not quite that bad. The daughter will shoot mags through it but prefers .38s. The mags are always nice if you need to shoot something that's on the other side of a V8 engine.

Did you ever want something really bad that you absolutely did not need? I bought a 50 year anniversary Dirty Harry .44. Pretty cocobolo grips that left my hand aching for two days (no joke!) when I emptied the first six out of it. I bought rubber grips for it. Much nicer.
