Anyone climbed in malaysia? Batu caves/batman/fairy (borneo)

Post by travelinyouth »

I am in Kuala lumpur and went climbing at Batu today..... not soo good. the guide book gave a choss pile 3 stars!?! and route finding was insane there are lines going every which way, in areas of vast blankness on the climbing guide. I was wondering if anyone had any info on newer guide books or printable topos. I tried camp5.com but that site is hard as crap to navigate. I know this is a long shot but I am trying regardless. Oh yeah, if anyone has any info on the batman cave or fairy caves in kuching, borneo that would be good too. Thanks a million.

Some contacts for you

Post by michellerossi25 »

Hey Adam, I have a few contacts that I met in Thailand last year that may be able to help. I won't be able to email them for another couple of hours, but I think they'll have some good info. Also, I have a friend in Singapore that may be up in the area....I'll give him a shout too!

Good luck!!

Many thanks! We are in Borneo and heading to the fairy caves (I heard they are okay but the bummer being that the higher off the deck you go the bigger the spiders get! ha ha! Maybe I will tote a stick along as part of my rack?) But yeah if they have any info on good lines that shouldn't be missed in malaysia, I would be super stoked! (it seems the guide book isn't very good.... lets face it, the thing blows, especially when you are used to Ray's glorious book!) Thanks again for the help!

Adam

Ps. I won't be around for about 2 weeks... heading into the jungle after climbing
PSS. thanks stacey, say hi to the climbtimers for me!
