Gulliver, It's not a holy war for you or me. But for the Jihadis it's a holy war, something that we'd best recognize.

"God Hates Fag Enablers"

This is probably a stretch I know. But I just want to show an example of a group an Christian terrorist group. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/200 ... ests_x.htm

yes they are not "killing in the name of" but I can imagine they are inflicting a lot of terror in the lives of grieving families and the gay community as scapegoats. Fred Phelps is very old and when he passes there will be many more of his disiples to take his place.

My only real point in all this is to show that no religion is immune to radialism and terrorism.

Meadows, thanks for the update but it doesn't qualify as a religion to me and the ACLU will defend my right to reject it like I would your jumpshot. Don't be believing the hype.

Meadows is right... "nut bags obsessed with an idea and justifying them through religion." I presume she's talking about nutbags obsessed with dangerous ideas.

It's not fundamentalism that is the danger. I believe the Amish are pretty fundamentalist, after all. It's people that harbor very dangerous ideas, and have the power to take significant action rationalized by those ideas that are the real danger.

Like most everyone on this forum, I detest Christian nutbags that shoot doctors, set off bombs, attempt to dehumanize gays, or protest soldiers funerals. In fact, I'd have a pretty hard time controlling myself if I ever ran across any of these jerks. Still, this country has always been able to marginalize these groups. They never gain any lasting political power, and the ones that break the law end up in jail. In the end, they always lose.

The Jihadis outnumber our homegrown nutbags by the millions, and they have the wealth of some of the world's greatest oil producers behind them. They are a threat completely out of proportion to that of the fringe elements of Christianity.

well said mr. day..but the libbies love to "pretend" that fundamental christianity is ruining america, when they should be scared/embarassed that they are terrible at origanizing a cohesive vision to challenge it. if anything, the rise in fundies in politics says more about the pathetic state of the liberal's agenda than anything. they have alienated the blue collar factory guy who wants to go fishing, go to a ball game and raise his family, and not have enviromental issues, gay rights, and global warming pushed down his throat. talk about a fringe group...
