Guess where, first climb of the KY Ice Season?

Post by sendit »

Thought I should offer up a conditions report. Ice was solid and the weather beautiful sunday morning (2-4-07). Access was no problem... you gotta guess where it is (hint: it's closer to lexington then the red is). Rigged a sketch anchor if anyone is interested in heading back out. Look for some bright orange webbing. Would really like to get down to the gorge, I'm sure after this week there will be stuff in. PM if interested in climbing some ice

That is the beer trailer crag near Miguels, no? I'm tempted to go check it out this Saturday (2/10). If anyone has a condition report, that may sway me, as I would hate to make the 4 hour drive to find out it is not "in".

Then again, I was in Ouray a few weeks ago, hard to beat this!

The creek that follows KY 33 near the KY river on towards shakertown had some pretty fat ice. I'd 15ish feet high with tons of tree's to build an anchor with. Nothing worth the drive, but if you live in the area and are desperate...
