Gunnie, I utterly disagreed we reacted "accordingly." Afghanistan was appropriate, but we pulled out of there to fight a fucking stupid war in the wrong country. Al Quaeda is a criminal organization, not a country. The military should be used in a support position behind law enforcement to deal with these maniacs. It's like walking into a room with an M-60 to try to kill a wasp. You may or may not kill the wasp but you sure as shit are going to fuck up the room. We should've gone into Afghanistan, killed Bin Laden and his people, fixed the broken pieces then and then waited and watched until more of them showed their faces and took care of them at that time. So this sawed off little cocksucker you call President has fucked up the room and in the process he's allowed a whole bunch more wasps to breed and spread. He's a stupid little fucker, Iraq is a big, stupid war, and the fact we let these chickenhawks do this shit makes us to be idiots as well. Then again, over half of us told him we didn't want to attack Iraq and he told us to get fucked, now way more than half of us are telling him to get out of Iraq and he's telling us to get fucked so I guess the American people are the ones getting fucked in this equation, starting with 9/11. Expecting anything that makes sense to come out of the White House is like expecting a giant bunny to show up and shit golden eggs on you.

Oh, and if you think the terrorists can't come and go from Iraq more easily than we can come and go to Brazil, you really need to wake up.

Alan i'll have you know i was just assaulted by that bunny. At the same time we as a people are NOT military specialists. We chew and digest whatever is fed to us, only to spit up the parts we do or don't like. We feel that we know more than those in power who have a slew of folks providing information. I don't agree at times with the choices but hey I'm not the one making them. Remember when treason was exactly what all of us are doing now and was punishable by death? I miss the good old days.

Alan states....
Gunnie, I utterly disagreed we reacted "accordingly." Afghanistan was appropriate.

Gunnie says....
I did not say acting accordingly was going to Iraq, only that I we did act accordingly.
How do you know I meant Iraq?? Since getting on here and paying close attention to current world affairs, following news sources, both right and left, I have a whole different spin on whats happening than I used to.
I currently only care about the aftermath that will eventually effect us here on the home front, and if you feel were are safe, you better wake up, unless you have a Norad type survival shelter. Do I think the terrorists can move about freely from all points North, South, East, or West, into Iraq, sure, they have been for years, only now its totally unobstructed.
I say the more they send, the more we kill, untill we are gone out of they're, untill then, let them come, we will have less to worry about coming through our unprotected southern boarders.

One of the many things to be proud of about America is that out of our history there was very little time when what we're doing would be treasonous. Yes, the Anti-Sedition laws were in force for a few years, and you had McCarthy, but free speech has always won in the end.

It's too bad they don't teach kids history any more. It was on the decline when I was a kid but in my Dad's time they actually knew about and understood battle tactics from the Civil War. They had to read about battles and tactics from the World Wars and they were given tests that they would fail if they didn't know the stuff. These days they have a weak Social Studies test that they spend rehearsing the "No Child Left Behind" tests, and every kid will pass because if they don't they'll lose Federal funding. They don't learn Civics or World History or American History. Ask the next teenager you see when Pearl Harbor happened.

I blame Republicans for this. They've slowly defunded public education to the point where it's so broken it may never be fixed.

Alan, you are so incredibly articulate. Really, you should be a journalist, your knowledge and poetic use of words comes spilling out on my screen like vomit down my toilet. I can't hear you for all the noise!

I blame revisionist historians, the same type who produced the above artical. The same type would like to revise the holocaust right out of history. telling history from a rigid Anglo-centric perspective is just as stupid as a rigid Anti-anglo centrism.

but don't mind me, i'm just a poor mannerd, disgruntled history major with crap for brains, pissed that i can't discern why parnell sided with the nationalists in the late 1870's. I problem i must rectify by thursday or no climbing this weekend
hey, if you yell to your belayer saying "why charles III, you are quite possibly the worst belayer ever" will he throw his tea on you?

Let me put this too you plain and simple. If you agree with the content of this article you are stupid beyond belief. If you think the basic premise of this article is stupid beyond belief, you've got it together.

so its all black and white there Mr. Day? No grey area when it comes to the things suggested in that article? Life is all about the grey, there are no absolutes. If you see life in blacks and whites you are stupid beyond all belief...

There are many things to consider about that article without agreeing with all of it or even most of it.
