isn't that why it is an all out best day? isn't your very best effort in any aspect of your life something that you can not repeat on a consistent basis? nolan ryan threw the most no hitters ever, but I bet they accounted for less than 1% of his overall starts......[/quote]

Maybe in your life. Consistent, is what makes you what you are. would you go to a doctor that wasn't consistent? Do you consistently hit the toilet in the dark. Do you please the missus.....consistently. A fluke is a fluke. Trust me at times they are great, but it's still a fluke. Nolan was Consistently a great pitcher.

i think this is why we have the questions "how hard do you climb?" and "whats the hardest you've climbed?" as two seperate questions. i guess this only makes me a 5.10 climber since those are the only ones in good style when i onsight

Of course Pat was talking about traditional climbing, and I agree with what he said. When I lived in Colorado I met more than one self described "5.11 climber" that couldn't consistently lead 5.9. I'm no sporty, but I would have thought that if you had a bunch of 5.13s under your belt, even though you'd worked them, you'd pretty much be considered a 5.13 sport climber by everybody, no?

Agreed. Many people who have sent a handful of 5.x lines after working them quite a bit consider themselves 5.x climbers. In my opinion 5.x climbers are then ones who are bagging them in a couple of tries. Not after working them for weeks on end. There's no true definition of what constitutes a 5.x climber though so it will always be debated. In my opinion it's whatever you are consistently sending between your onsite level and a couple of tries.
