Proposed Revised Forest Plan

The FS will be holding a workshop for RRGCC and all climbers/recreationists are more than invited to attend. The WS will be held sometime in June. We will be posting further information on where/when/why/etc ASAP. THe RRGCC's positon will be discussed then because it is a more appropriate forum to discuss such items. Too much information is lost when answering at random.

Captain, thanks for posting your interpretation of the proposal. Gretchen, will the RRGCC's position also be published for people who cannot attend the workshop?

Louisvillians - the FS meeting here is tomorrow night, Wednesday May 28 Hurstbourne Hotel, Louisville, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. I'll be at the 6 pm meeting if anyone wants to coordinate outfits in advance.

Since the comments are not due until August, climbers have plenty of time to formulate a position.

It should be noted that the USFS meetings are billed as "Open houses ... to provide information." These meetings are not the proper forum for providing comments on the Plan. Forest Plan Comments are due by Thursday, August 14, 2003 and may be submitted according to any of these three following means -

Email Plan Comments to:

What we should be asking the USFS at these meetings are things like, "How will comments be considered before finalizing the Plan?" or "What type of comments would most likely have an impact on the wording of the Final Plan document?" or "Do you think that the Plan could be revised to contain specific goals and objectives related to rock climbing?"

Jeez Capt, I don't think EVERYONE who drinks bud light is a homo!

Bruisebro & I attended the Draft Plan Open House held in Northern Kentucky yesterday. We had some good discussions w/Forest Service Staff. We also got the beta on how to be most effective in commenting on the Plan. Has anyone else attended any of these meetings? What was your experience?
