Iowa does RRG!

Post by sycamore »

A couple friends and I are driving down monday the 19th and will be climbing through the weekend. None of us have been to the red before. If anyone wants to climb with some Iowans or needs people to climb with (or has recommendations for vertical .12 crimp-fests) we'd sure appreciate it. With beer. Anyway, barring unforseen circumstances we'll be staying at Miguel's, so if you see Iowa plates and two guys and a girl, say hi.

Hey Mark,
check out the online guidebook to help you find your routes. Most of the stuff you find in the Red is pretty steep, but there are crags with vert walls too.

If you are approached by a pretty boy in a Prana tank top, do not be afraid. S/he will make a great climbing partner! Avoid any sudden movements, though.

Don't forget Hakuna Matata (12a/b) @ Drive-By, super tall vert. crimp-fest.
Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.

Okay- it looks as though we'll be arriving tuesday afternoon instead of monday night- the forcast says rain- are there any particular crags that are renowned for staying dry (or at least for drying quickly)?

you might try checking out skybridge and funkrock city. they seem to be the driest of the crags in my opinion.
