Gaar wrote:Hey alan nice to talk to you again! FYI we relesed the sharks...the Enviromental center, where i worked and taught intro to Marine Biology, didn't approve of killing sharks, because their growth rate is so slow it only alows them to be fully mature after 7 years...We only went fishing for sharks to teach the hunting skills of the animals.

To note as well, most (i.e) Black tip, Lemon(pictured in both photos), Caribbean Reef, Golden scalloped hammorhead, and the great hammorhead, are mainly nocturnal feeders...So if you want to be a pussy and fish for a nurse shark, or a bonnet head, fine go ahead and fish during the day.
See, we're in agreement that night fishing (for trophies) is lame.

Once I was in FL wading way out on a sandbar at night, grooving on the warm water. As I approached a dock the sandbar curved back into land but I was well out past the end of it while walking. When I got back to the beach I walked out the warf to see what was going on and there were a bunch of guys throwing chum into the water to catch sharks (they had spotlights on the water to "aid" them). The 8 foot sand shark and 6 foot hammerhead on the dock made me feel a bit uncomfortable about the walk I had just taken. These guys were cutting out the jaws and then chopping up the sharks for more chum. Very lame.

Yeah thats kinda dickish!! Killing sharks (down in the keys at least) is really looked down upon by the community.
