muscle strength

Post by Horatio Felacio »

do muscles ever reach a maximum strength? meaning if you never gain any muscle, will you eventually reach a point where you absolutely can't get any stronger?

The only ways that I know to get stronger without hypertrophing the muscle is to get a larger recruitment from the muscle fibers or to become more efficient with what you have.

IMO

Yes muscles do reach maximum strength which is determined by your genetics. Each person has a different max based on his or her genetics.

My body builder friend was telling me that your muscles CAN reach a maximum strength with any given workout or diet. I was talking to him about plateauing and he advised me to change my diet a little and change my workout a little. Almost instantly i noticed a difference in strength building, in that is got better super fast. But then i plateaued again and changed back to what i was doing the first time, and it was the same, i was able to get stronger. but then i busted my shoulders so who cares.

My workout regimen, which I designed to meet my stringent needs, allows me to never reach a maximum strength.
