well here's the thing, I have met and become friends with climbers with far more skilz and experience than myself by sharing my seemingly pathetic accomplishments with them and them offering me encouragment and support, even though they climb at WAY harder levels than I can ever hope to do. Maybe it is because I am a chick, maybe it is because I am not pretentious - I dunno, but when strangers support my efforts, I have a hard time believing that every climber at Miguel's who is jazzed about their sends is on an ego trip. I think many people are on the defensive and that is part of the problem.Yeti wrote:Good point, but sharing the moment with your friends is a much more acceptable form of "spray". Your climbing crew is your support group and vice versa.
Red River Rant....I am a 5.2 climber how about you?
That's why I don't talk about my climbs with any but my friends....that like yours, are usually off pulling down on stuff I can't even attempt yet. No one else cares how my day went, and I don't care about the latest addition to Miguel's entorage or how their day went.Sadly, I can only be a weekend warrior right now, so my time is mine, not theirs.
