Report on 2006 Bolt Inspection in Muir Valley:

We’ve received a number of questions regarding the status and results of hardware inspection in Muir Valley, as well as questions regarding which routes have reopened. Over the past few months, almost all of the bolts and anchor hardware in the Valley have been visually inspected and checked for appropriate torque values. About 12 of the steeper routes remain temporarily closed until their bolts have been inspected and/or replaced with glue-ins. (Any volunteers?) The remaining 220+ open routes have been checked and reopened.

The MV Route Developers’ Database provides an inventory of every piece of hardware on every route and the inspection results of each piece. Of the 1673 bolts inspected this year, only four were found to be “loose, â€

Rick and Liz, THANKS AGAIN, Muir Valley has made the world a better place. It of course was always there but the vision and efforts of many have made such a wonderful contribution possible. By working together something fantastic has been created.

ill help get those routes open in november rick. they are very popular and from what i hear great routes. plus it will give me a chance to learn about glue ins. my guess is if you arranged a day and asked for some help we could get all the routes done in a weekend. routes that good should be open.

I would love to help out, hopefullyi will be able to finish all my work and have a lot of time in november to help out. ill keep you posted on when i will be able to help.

Give me some notice, and I'll take a day off and go with you and Ames again, Matt. Of course, I'll belay!
