December road trip
December road trip
I have a few days in december for a road trip--where is a good climbing destination? Red Rocks? Hueco Tanks? Mt. lemon/cochise stronghold?

Bad beta. The park does get full, and you will get stuck at the gate, people even sleep in thier cars at the gate to get a spot. If you stay in the park, then you can get in line as early as you want - the people inside are in line before the ones outside the gate. If you don't have reservations, and only a few days, I would probably go somewhere else, or be sure to stay in the park, even though it costs more.pigsteak wrote:hueco is never full...just be early at the gate, and you can get in. or sign up for a guide at the rock ranch..you'll always get in that way.
rhunt, Not closed, and it is an outstanding area. But there is a bit of red tape. To me, unless you have reservations, or at least a couple weeks there, it isn't the best place to be. However, the bouldering there is out of this world good, so it is worth the trouble.
Bishop is also a nice winter area, less rules, more choss. Bishop also wins the better place to hang out on rest days award, as El Paso is Choss.
If you only have a few days, might be better to just hang out in the SE.
