New suggestion

Post by Ryan »

I suggest that old threads that haven't seen any new action should be deleted to make room for all these new topics that seem to come out of the woodwork. You have to take out the trash once in a while! :D Otherwise, new members would have to read the equivilent of a novel to catch up on thread that ultimately went nowhere! :D Have a good day, Ray!

You can mark all forums as read, that will basically let you start clean. You don't have to read all of the old threads to make them show as being read.

It's good to have all of the old threads so users can search through old topics for beta or whatever.

I should have been more specific........I meant stuff like conversations or just drivel that had no beta in it.

Okay, I can actually enable "pruning" on this board. Pruning will delete old threads that haven't seen any action. However, it kind of sucks when you remember that someone posted directions, etc. to someplace but you go back to find it and it's gone. Waddya think?

Basically, I enter the number of days to allow for a topic to have a reply before it is pruned.

Personally I don't think it's a good idea because the beta given on this board can be a great source of info regardless of how old it is.

You've got to have all of the old stuff or you just end up asking the same questions over and over and over and over. All threads that haven't had action move down the topic list, so you just don't have to read them.

I think it sort of takes care of itself now.

Is there a way to archive old threads without earasing them?

I agree with tsparks. I mean, if the old stuff is on other pages as it is now then it really doesn't get in the way.

So far we've got directions to Pennyrile, Morehead, Solar Collector and others on here. That's valuable info for some and to prune it would be a bad idea.
